SNMP software uses definition files known as MIBs to access network devices. To do that manually, or via a provided utilities like snmpget and snmpwalk is a cumbersome occupation. There are pieces of software named SNMP browsers (also called at time MIBs browsers) that facilitate working with SNMP.
There are many SNMP browsers, with freeware and commercial type of software. Basically, those are facility to search, monitor and change given values for a given set of SNMP-enabled devices. Advanced types of browsers can accept scenarios of monitoring/change, thus working as a software SNMP manager (they can efficiently gather information and trigger actions upon detecting changes in devices state).
