VMWare Datastore

Monitors included into Virtual Machines – VMWare Datastore template

The monitors defined in this application template permit to watch VMWare datastore capacity parameters. VMWare datastores are logical containers, similar to file systems; they hide details of every storage device and provide a uniform model to store virtual machine files. Note that VMWare templates utilize HTTPS to monitor resources, any response different from HTTP 200 (OK) is considered an error. Please pay attention to units used to measure performance. Monitors list

Monitors description

Total Capacity (enabled by default). Maximum amount of space available in this datastore (specify its name as monitor parameter). Measured in kilobytes.

Free Space (enabled by default). Space available in datastore, identified by name. Measured in kilobytes.

Uncommitted space (enabled by default). Total dditional storage space, in bytes, potentially used by the virtual machine on this datastore. This space may be needed for example when lazily allocated disks grow, or storage for swap is allocated when powering on the virtual machine. Measured in bytes.

Read latency (enabled by default). Average amount of time for a read operation from the datastore. Note: it’s a sum of kernel latency and device latency. Measured in milliseconds.

Write Latency (enabled by default). Average amount of time for a write operation to the datastore. Note: it’s a sum of kernel latency and device latency. Measured in milliseconds.
