VMWare Hypervisor

Monitors included into Virtual Machines – VMWare Hypervisor template

Monitors provided by this template provide access to general VMWare Hypervisor metrics: hardware resources (CPU, memory, storage devices, network). This template uses HTTPS to access the metrics; if monitor gets anything but “HTTP 200” response code, it is considered an error. More about templates.

Monitors description

CPU Total (enabled by default). Total amount of CPUs available, multiplied by clock rate. Measured in MHz.

CPU Usage (enabled by default). Overall CPU power used, measured in MHz.

CPU Usage (percent) (enabled by default). Same as above, but measured as percentage of total available CPU power.

Memory Granted. Amount of physical memory mapped for a host. Measured in MBs (megabytes).

Memory Consumed (enabled by default). Amount of host physical memory, used by the host. Measured in MBs.

Memory Consumed (percent) (enabled by default). Same as above, but as a percentage of all granted memory.

Memory Active (enabled by default). Amount of physical memory actively used by guests. Measured in MBs.

Memory Balloon. Sum of the guest physical memory reclaimed by the balloon driver for all powered on virtual machines on the host. Measured in MBs.

Memory Shared. Amount of machine memory shared by all powered on virtual machines and vSphere service on the host.

Memory Swap. Amount of memory swapped in from host cache, Measured in MBs.

Disk Usage (enabled by default). Aggregated disk I/O rate for all LUNs (logical unit numbers) on a host. Measured in Kbps (kilobits per second).

Disk Read. Data read from disks rate. Measured in Kbps.

Disk Write. Data write to disks rate. Measured in Kbps.

Network Usage (enabled by default). Average combined receive- and transmit rate over all NICs (network interface cards) on a host. Measured in Mbps (megabit per second).

Network Receive. Average rate of data received. Measured in Mbps.

Network Transmit. Average rate of data transmitted. Measured in Mbps.
