WMI ADAP

WMIadap (executable is named wmiadap.exe) is a built-in process used by Windows operating systems, starting from XP, to implement AutoDiscovery/AutoPurge (ADAP) process transfers performance libraries to the WMI repository.

This process is safe and should not be tampered with. Running wmiadap updates all the performance classes. The data it collects/refreshes is used to measure miscellaneous aspects of OS performance, thus allow easy system resources monitoring.
