AgentX – Agent Extensibility Protocol

Agent Extensibility Protocol, or AgentX, is a computing networking protocol design to manage SNMP objects defined by different processes by a single management agent. Agents that exports objects to another agents are named subagents.

Agents make it possible to control and monitor networks containing a variety of SNMP-enabled devices via standartized interface, unrelated to any specific of a given SNMP implementation and capabilities. Note that AgentX is only used to provide communication between master Agent and subagents.
